WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?

Buying new items online and from shops, stores and online involves consuming a lot of materials and energy in manufacturing processes, all of which are harmful to the environment. Their carbon footprint is even greater because they need to be transported to stores and warehouses, often from overseas.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Think of something you want – like a book – and see if you can borrow it from a friend or the library, rather than buying it new. The challenge is complete when you’ve successfully avoided buying something new.

Why not host a swap shop for your class, or start a MICROBOD library? Everyone can bring a book that they want to swap and you can all trade with each other to get things you want!
